History
Preliminary permission on establishing the Lung Disease Research Center (LDRC) in Ardabil University of Medical Sciences was issued by Iranian "Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education" in August 2022.
This center aims to expand research and to provide appropriate solutions in health care in the field of pulmonary diseases. LDRC benefits a high experienced researchers with different specialties, so it seeks to solve pulmonary diseases from wide view of points.
Ardabil Pulmonary Diseases Research Center has been located at Imam Khomeini Hospital since February 2022. LDRC's research council overviews and approves the grants and the projects submitted to this center.
Vision
The main vision of the LDRC is to provide new diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and tries to achieve its goals with scientific and research based approaches.
The main policy of the center is to being a hub in nationwide and region for solving the pulmonary issues in terms of education, training, treating, and research.
Some of research priorities follows, but not limited to;
1- Examining occupational lung diseases
2- Epidemiological studies in the field of lung diseases (asthma and COPD)
3- Investigating lung cancers
4- Examining thromboses related to Catheter
5- Studies related to pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases
6- Studies related to community-based interventions with lung diseases such as smoking, obesity, and diabetes.
7- Studies related to new therapeutic and diagnostic methods such as health technologies, new surgery and gene therapy
8- Studies related to improving the quality of life in patients with lung diseases
9- Studies related to traditional and herbal medicine in patients with lung diseases
10- Studies related to setting up registry systems
11- Studies related to the prevention of lung diseases
12- Investigation of air pollution and environmental pollutants and their relation to lung diseases and health
