On Thursday, May 15, 2025, a group of distinguished professors and surgeons from Bashkir State Medical University (BSMU) in Russia visited the Mohammad Rasulollah (PBUH) Research Tower at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS). The visitors were welcomed by SUMS officials, including the Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs (GSIA) and the Head of the Research Tower.
This in-person meeting built upon previous collaborative efforts, such as prior correspondence and a virtual meeting held the previous month. BSMU, known for its expertise in urology, also conducts significant research in ophthalmologic surgery, innovative scientific disciplines, applied basic sciences, and pharmaceutical sciences.
Dr. Manica Negahdaripour, Vice-Chancellor for GSIA at SUMS, stated that the visit featured a tour of the Tower’s advanced research and laboratory facilities. Representatives from both institutions shared perspectives on avenues for international and scientific cooperation and discussed their universities’ broader strategic goals.
Topics covered during the discussions included launching joint research initiatives, facilitating exchanges for students and researchers, taking part in academic events, and making research facilities mutually accessible. Both institutions agreed to schedule additional meetings to further examine collaborative opportunities and develop a detailed action plan for future partnerships.
